Biography

Colin Rafferty has been a Delran Resident for 18 years, and has been engaged in Delran Township School District and Delran Township Community.  After spending nearly a decade and a half in the Delran School District, Colin knows what truly drives the students and staff. Being a member of the Delran School District Technology Committee, Colin represented the student body by assisting the committee in writing a three year technology plan required by the state, and addressed technology related issues throughout the district. Colin has worked with Delran Township on the Recreation Advisory Committee for the past few years, which in conjuction with the Township organized and planned local events such as Delran Night Out, The Winter Festival, Egg hunt, and Delran Conrow Park Camp. Colin is the Co-Chair of the Delran Night Out and Winter Festival events, which has a mission of building community morale and camaraderie with friends and family.

Candidates Goals

Colin says his goal is to improve and increase the transparency of the board. Colin plans to do that by virtue of his belief that a school board must be responsive and accountable to parents, staff, students and the community at large, through encouraging an open dialog. The board must source input from all groups and weigh all the facts before making a decision. As Board member Colin will remain a trustee of the community that elects him and always be accessible and willing to collaborate with all members of the community including all our teachers. Colin believes that anyone that comes before the board has the right to be heard and not just to speak. Colin wants to build a bridge between the Delran Township Council and the Delran Board of Education, to brighten the relationship and the communication between both the school board and the Township Council. Colin will continue building public understanding, support and participation.
